East Sussex Town Does Its Bit for the Environment

Brighton City Council has recently revealed it will be installing 20 roadside charging stations for electric vehicles. This is all part of a big scheme to enable Brighton to become more of a Zero-emission city.

One thing to debate is the fact that some people who already own an electric car think they are bigger and better than everyone else? If you watched an old episode of South Park it would maybe seem so. Many of the characters in South Park who bought an electric car suddenly found that they all started to think very highly of themselves and certainly far better than people without the car.

Of course this is all nonsense and just put there to annoy the people of Chicago (where a lot of the episode was based) as well as everyone who own one of the electric cars.

Is the answer to all the pollution in the world actually in these cars or maybe it can cause more hassle than good? Well in actual fact there is a lot of unused electric at night as the power stations cannot just shut down for twelve hours so without building anymore stations we could power millions of electric cars at no extra cost to the environment. If we should have to build more power plants, we would hope that they will be cleaner plants. It also works out that the price per mile is a lot more economical for an electric vehicle than it is for gas vehicle. The bottom line is the efficiency of the cars, a gasoline car is 25% efficient, whereas electric is around 95%, so travelling a mile on gas costs around 15 cents, whereas electric costs a penny.

So if you are about to buy an Audi or buy a Honda you should hold off and wait until an electric car comes your way. Whether it is used cars there is sure to be an eventual upgrade for a car to help take down your C02 emissions.
